About Us

In The Learning Village we’re strengthening systems and service delivery through our collaboration among partnering organizations and community representatives in the social services, health, and education systems who contribute resources including time, money, expertise, staff, volunteers and space. We build on existing assets and services for children and families and we believe by working together we enhance our collective potential for positive impact.

We do this by:

  • Influencing organizational policies and systems, and
  • Leveraging resources and supporting partners and other service providers to provide evidence-based support services and programming in schools in the community

Our goals

To support children’s positive physical, social, emotional and cognitive development we work through elementary schools to:

Increase:

  • parental involvement in schools and in their children’s learning
  • children’s engagement in school

Improve:

  • children’s social competence and emotional well-being
  • children’s physical and mental health

During 2010 to 2012 the Partners in The Learning Village are collaborating on several key initiatives.

The Learning Village covers the geographic area known as Greater Forest Lawn in Calgary, Alberta, Canada: east of Barlow Trail, north of Peigan Trail, south of 16th Avenue and west of 84th Street.
